Extraordinary “Rendition”
“Extraordinary Rendition” sometimes known as outsourced torture is the practice whereby the U.S. uses another country to interrogate suspected terrorists (a directive initiated by President Clinton in 1995). Reese Witherspoon portrays the pregnant wife of an Egyptian-born chemical engineer who is detained and sent to North Africa. Jake Gyllenhaal, Meryl Streep, and Alan Arkin also star in this spotty, but ultimately effective thriller.
