The Greatest Game Ever Played

The Greatest Game Ever Played Three Stars.

Despite the endless heart-tugging clich?s and predictable storylines, Disney once again demonstrates its ability to push the right sentimental buttons in an underdog sports film. This time it’s the obscure but amazing drama of 20-year-old amateur golfer Francis Ouimet (Shia LaBeouf of “Holes”), who in 1913 defeated his British hero to win the U.S. Open. While lacking acute analysis, the film proves that strong production values can make golf exciting, dramatic, and tear inducing– exactly what you’d expect. No excuses for the hanky-less.

Grade: B
Rated PG for some brief mild language.
