Step Up

“Step Up” steps in it

Waiting for Kevin Bacon, Jennifer Beals, Patrick Swayze, Jennifer Grey, SOMEBODY to show up onscreen and save this mess? Alas, it won’t happen. The problem isn’t the excellent dancing– all 11 minutes of it– but the lousy story that keeps getting in the way. To describe the acting as “wooden” would be an insult to trees everywhere.

Grade: D+
Rated PG-13 for thematic elements, brief violence and innuendo.
