Seven Psychopaths

Twisted and unfulfilling
With an all-star, offbeat cast that includes Woody Harrelson, Sam Rockwell, Christopher Walken and Colin Farrell as the “normal” guy, this Tarantino-inspired script-within-a-script character study by writer-director Martin McDonagh is filled with brutal violence and detached pretension, but could have been much more interesting. It’s neither funny nor groundbreaking, resulting in a half-baked homage not a fully realized idea. But that may be enough for the target audience. Rated “R” for pervasive language, strong violence, bloody images, sexuality/nudity and some drug use.
Grade: C+
