Matador

Ole! for the off-kilter “Matador”

Proving again that there is life after Agent 007, Pierce Brosnan takes a decidedly un-Bondlike turn as a burned out hit man who strikes up a quirky relationship with suburbanite Greg Kinnear. The two connect in Mexico, and what transpires is a buddy-pic with a darker side resulting in a light but nonetheless earned “R” rating. The Tarantino-inspired “Matador” offers deft comedy, great conversations, and a moral lift the Pulp master’s works neither offer nor aspire to.
